Music Industry Experiences

Viva La(s) Vegas Music Summit 2018

Cost

I traveled from NY to Las Vegas to attend VMS, and below I’ve listed some financial aspects I needed to consider:

Airfare: About $300 roundtripHotel: VMS has a partnership with a 5 star hotel called the Downtown Grand. The discount rate $50 per night, which can be split between up to 4 people. #blessEntertainment: The Ubers/Lyfts, foods/drinks – they really add up! I recommend to have about $100 readily available, and DEFINITELY more if you plan to gamble and buy souvenirs.

Impact
You will learn about the music industry! Like a lot about it!

My favorite panels focused on how to run a music festival and how to kick butt with playlist marketing. Additionally, you get to learn about A&R, management, distribution, and you also get to experience an artist showcase.

2. Networking be real tho

When I was at VMS, I met the management mind behind Linkin Park, as well as students from several other colleges. I even met Las Vegas locals of the industry- all of whom were so friendly and welcoming to me and my peers!

In a nutshell, this summit is AWESOME if you’re there to sit down and LEARN about the BUSINESS through many panels.

If you prefer tactical experiences (I’m thinking from a musician’s standpoint), I’d suggest you save your money for NAMM.

Let me just say that the Music Department Head of Hofstra University is such a dedicated soul. He pitched to the university to give students grants to attend this so he made it possible for our airfare and hotel to be fully covered!

Thanks, Prof. T!

& here’s a cute pic of me and my Hofstra peers having fun in Vegas!
So cute :’D
