The Songwriting Process: Phase 1

“I never judge my own songwriting. It’s just my heart.
What’s there to judge about your own heart?”

Banks has a great point. When musicians write songs from the heart, they place themselves in the most vulnerable head spaces. Everyone is always ready to just state their opinions of songs, and it seems that these opinions tend to make or break entire careers.

Yet I’m about to experiment with a musical risk: I’m young and I’ve got a little to lose, but I feel that it’ll all go uphill from here: I have decided to use my blog as a public space for song development.

Below is a YouTube video to Phase 1 of my Untitled Original Song. It’s just a chord progression and words right now, and I’m really excited to work on it more and post its progression.

Comment below if you have any insight or ideas on creative direction, as I love playing around with many different possibilities! Songwriting is still a learning process for me and it always will be.

Just so y’all know, I’m not a musician to pop out ‘hits’, because I’m a musician because that’s what makes me happiest at the end of the day. Making music for my sanity means way more than me than making music to make a product.

This being said, haters will be ignored.

Have a great day fellow musicians and music lovers!
